Business & Strategy

So many businesses wait and see where they will end up. Sometimes it is worth taking time to think about the business, where it is now, where you want it to be, and to plan how you are going to get there.

IVITA Learning can work with you through a structured programme, helping you to involve your key staff in the process to ensure they feel involved and committed to the plan.

IVITA Learning can help you to visualise how your business’s future will look, feel, sound and even smell and taste if that is appropriate. One organisation I work with teaches joinery skills to young people and it would be a shame to lose the woody smell of the workshop when they move to their new building.

Visualising the future of your business (or your life)

Visioning is about describing in detail the way you want your business or your life to be in the future.  Imagine what you want it to be like – using all your senses.   If you are planning a move abroad, for example, does it smell different to rural Cumbria or busy London?  What noise is going on around you?  Are your staff/family happy and smiling in the vision?

Try to describe it specifically and in detail.  Writing it down is very important, or drawing it if that is easier for you.  Describe it as though it has already been achieved – in the present tense rather than the future tense.

If you can do this, it suggests that it is within your control to make it happen.  If you are struggling to visualise it fully maybe there is something in the way, a barrier you need to deal with first.

Before getting completely carried away, consider any cost there may be to personal or professional life, set a time frame to get moving, and then shout it from the rooftops involving everyone you need to along to way.
